You will need to bring in an uncooked sample of the required allergen, for example a raw prawn.
The Allergy Clinic can test children for an allergic reaction to cat, rye grass, cows milk, egg, house dust mite, southern grasses, moulds and peanut.
You will need to contact the clinic to make an appointment for your first visit.

If the child is allergic a small welt will appear quickly, looking similar to a mosquito bite.
The skin prick test will be followed up by an examination from Professor Susan Prescott, our Paediatric Immunologist.
She will discuss the results and possible strategies for treatment of any allergies. Your child will then be measured for height, weight and head circumference. If possible a small sample of blood (5-10ml) will then be collected from the vein in your child's arm.
